Possums

• Pointed snout
• Pink nose, long wiskers
• Large ears
• Sharp claws - to enable them to climb trees and comb fur.
• Colour - From copper coloured to grey or black
• Size - as big as a domestic cat
• They are active during the night and sleep through the day as they are nocturnal animals.

The two possum species the average person is most likely to come into contact with are the Brushtail Possum and Ringtail Possum.

Possums are commonly found in suburban areas, where they are often considered pests owing to their habit of eating fruit, vegetables, flowers and tender young shoots from gardens, and nesting in roofs.

Possums nightly romps (and fights) in ceilings and roof tops are another cause of animosity from people
